uvex Success Story

Logistics service provider H.Essers, on the road every day with the most sustainable safety shoes in Belgium

Sustainability as a common core value

At H.Essers, sustainability is at the heart of every link in the logistics chain. As a leading logistics service provider, the company continuously invests in environmentally friendly solutions to reduce its ecological footprint. For example, H.Essers is strongly committed to alternative fuels, such as generating electricity with their own windmills, and optimizes transport processes by combining multimodal transport.

This contributes to a significant CO₂ reduction compared to traditional road transport. In addition, H.Essers is working on energy efficiency in its warehouses with LED lighting, heat recovery and solar panels. Sustainable packaging solutions with recycled and reusable materials also play an important role in its circular approach.

A decade of cooperation with a focus on sustainability

H.Essers has chosen uvex safety footwear for more than 10 years. During this cooperation, the uvex 1 series has undergone an impressive transformation. Although these innovations are not immediately visible, uvex has made the shoes significantly more sustainable through the use of recycled materials and refining innovative production methods to reduce its environmental impact.

Sustainable down to the sole: uvex safety shoes made with recycled materials and 100% green energy.

All uvex footwear now contain at least one recycled component utilizing wasted polyurethane (PU) from its production processes. Production residue is processed into granulate and added to the soles during the production of new shoes, reducing the need for new raw materials and giving production surplus a second life. Moreover, all uvex footwear is produced using 100% green energy and environmentally friendly processes such as water-based solvents. Thanks to these sustainable activities, the uvex 1 has a CO₂ footprint of only 8.63 kg CO₂-eq per pair.

Transparency and measurable impact

To make sustainability transparent, uvex calculates the carbon footprint of its products according to the international ISO 14067 standard. These calculations are independently verified and are among the lowest CO₂ emissions on the market. As a result, uvex helps companies like H.Essers to actively reduce their scope 3 emissions.

Sustainable production and innovation

uvex 1 shoes are produced in one of the most modern safety footwear production facilities in Europe, located in northern Italy. This factory uses advanced, robot-controlled production systems and processes that meet the highest environmental standards. By using solar energy, recycled raw materials and short transport distances between manufacturer and user, uvex minimizes its impact on the environment.

Building a sustainable future together.

Sustainability at H.Essers is not limited to their own activities, but is an integral part of their collaborations. By choosing partners like uvex, who share the same vision, the impact on the entire supply chain is reduced. With this partnership, H.Essers reinforces its mission to create a sustainable future – for itself, its customers and our planet.

High Protection, Low Footprint  Thanks to Strong Partnerships

The partnership between uvex and H.Essers illustrates how cooperation can contribute to a more sustainable future. With uvex safety footwear, H.Essers not only opts for high-quality protection, but also for innovative solutions that contribute to reducing their ecological footprint.

Special thanks to H.Essers, Vandeputte Safety and Patrick C., the proud driver.
