uvex 1 sport safety shoes win German Design Award 2019

The uvex 1 sport safety shoe, which was first unveiled at the A+A international trade fair (for occupational health and safety) in 2017, has been recognized with the prestigious German Design Award 2019. At the same time, the attractive new colour versions “wildberry” and “blue” has been added to the range. The new models are available in protection class S1 SRC and S1 P SRC.

The jury said the following in support of its decision to grant a German Design Award 2019 to the uvex 1 sport safety shoe range, “With their sporty-chic look and feel, these are safety shoes you can wear anywhere. They don’t just look trendy, they’re also very comfortable – the material has a very pleasant feel. Fantastic, contemporary footwear that is just as functional as it is fashionable.” So, after picking up the iF Design Award 2018 and the red dot Design Award 2018 the uvex 1 sport concept has again impressed a panel of international design experts and reaffirmed uvex’s place among the elite.

Sporty design meets sophisticated functionality: The uvex 1 sport safety shoe is both youthful and stylish combined with first-class wearer comfort, thanks to its lightweight design, climate-optimised high-tech materials and an ergonomically shaped, flexible outsole made from dual-density polyurethane. As part of the uvex i-gonomics product system, the safety shoe measurably enhances wearer comfort at the workplace and beyond.  

An extensive range of features
Virtually seam-free and based on a newly developed last, uvex 1 sport safety shoes in protection class S1, S1 P and S3 also impress with an extensive range of features. Made from synthetic materials, the shoes are ESD-capable and suitable for people allergic to chrome. The polyurethane outsole is abrasion-resistant and impresses with very good slip resistance values (SRC designation). The metal-free xenova® protective toe cap as well as the non-metallic, penetration-resistant midsole (S1 P, S3 version) offer a high level of safety. uvex 1 sport safety shoes are also free from paint wetting impairment substances. Sizes 35 to 40 are produced using a women's last. The removable comfortable insole provides cushioning around the forefoot and heel. With uvex 1 sport safety shoes, solutions tailored to orthopaedic requirements are available in accordance with DGUV (German Institute for Occupational Health and Safety) regulation 112-191 and Austrian ÖNORM Z regulation 1259 on request.

uvex i-gonomics stands for maximum functionality with first-class comfort: The innovative product system is perfectly adapted to the human physiognomy and is characterised by its outstanding absorption, low weight and optimal climate control. Standing and walking in safety footwear is noticeably more comfortable – all day long. The uvex 1 sport achieves an outstanding uvex i-gonomics relief index of 4.3 thanks to a low weight of just 475 g (S1 SRC, size 42), a high degree of flexibility (low flexural rigidity) and a high level of breathability.
