Why wear assembly gloves?
Protective gloves are part of personal protective equipment (PPE) and must be worn when, despite all possible safety measures – such as replacing hazardous substances or working methods with safer alternatives – there remains a certain risk of hand injuries.
The greatest potential for injury is:
Chemical hazards
biological hazards
Physical hazards, e.g. from mechanics or electrics
Cut protection level for work gloves
The protective performance of assembly gloves is determined by their cut protection level. The level of a glove is determined by the EN 388 standard. The assembly gloves are tested for the following properties:
Type of examination | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 |
Abrasion resistance (cycles) | 100 | 500 | 2.000 | 8.000
Cut resistance (index) | 1,2 | 2,5 | 5,0 | 10,0 | 20,0 |
Further Pinch Strength (Newton) | 10 | 25 | 50 | 75
Puncture resistance (Newton) | 20 | 60 | 100 | 150 |
This results in the following cut protection classes, which reflect different areas of application:
1. Abrasion resistance (0 to 4)
2. Cut resistance (0 to 5)
3. Tear resistance (0 to 4)
4. Puncture resistance (0 to 4)
What types of craftsman gloves are there?
There are many different tasks and areas of application where hands need to be protected. Accordingly, a variety of work gloves and assembly gloves are available to you, which are specially tailored to the requirements of different activities.
Assembly gloves
Assembly gloves are a special subtype of craftsman gloves. Precision mechanic gloves also belong to this category. As the name suggests, assembly gloves are mainly worn during assembly work, where a lot of sensitivity is usually required. Accordingly, assembly gloves are thin and sensitive. In addition to protection against injuries, they offer a very high level of grip, good flexibility and maximum wearing comfort.
Cut protection gloves
Do you work a lot with wood or metals? Then you should definitely wear cut-resistant gloves. They protect against stitches, cuts, tears or abrasions – in other words, mechanical injuries. Discover cut protection gloves from uvex now!
All-round protective gloves
Many assembly gloves are true all-rounders – in many work areas it is necessary to do fine work while protecting your hands. For example, they are also used as car gloves or locksmith gloves.
Forearm protection
The ideal complement to the assembly glove is a forearm protector such as the uvex C500 sleeve or uvex unidur sleeve C. This is a kind of separate sleeve that provides extra protection against cuts, abrasions and lacerations for your arms. Forearm protection consists of different combinations of highly resistant materials such as HPPE, glass, polyamide and bamboo fibers.
uvex assembly gloves: Materials
To ensure that our assembly gloves offer you the best possible protection and can be used for as long as possible, we rely on high-quality fabric mixes made of different materials during production.
Cotton or cotton blend is often the basis or lining for assembly gloves. The fibre offers a particularly high level of comfort when it comes into direct contact with the skin: cotton fabric absorbs moisture well and is breathable. This is especially important for winter assembly gloves that need to be as warm as possible, but need to keep moisture out from the inside and outside.
