uvex suXXeed greencycle planet

Designed to be recycled

At the A+A 2021 in Düsseldorf, uvex is presenting its own head-to-toe sustainable product system: The planet series. One of many highlights being shown by uvex is the first completely compostable workwear collection: uvex suXXeed greencycle planet. In this workwear collection, every button, every piece of yarn and all packaging is certified Cradle to Cradle™ gold.

This means uvex has thought of everything. From renewable energy sources to short transport routes in Europe and high social standards, all criteria are tested and certified by an independent institute. Therefore, uvex is not only pursuing its mission of protecting people, but also protecting subsequent generations and the environment.

Ecological clothing from uvex
The uvex suXXeed greencycle planet collection is designed to be recycled. At the end of the product's life, all of it can be returned to the materials cycle. It can also be composted at home or sent for industrial composting. The decomposition process requires microorganisms, oxygen, moisture and heat. All the materials used, including the dyes, are 100% compostable. This way, the material is returned to nature and new raw materials can be produced.

Sustainable workwear through and through
With the uvex suXXeed greencycle planet collection, the company from Fürth has succeeded in creating the first workwear collection which works with ecological cycles. Suitable for men and women in warehousing, office work or for leisure activities.

It offers a timeless look and is Cradle to Cradle™ certified. In practical terms, this means that the clothes decompose within about 400 days and return to the natural cycle. Buttons, yarns, fabrics and dyes are all completely compostable. Both the packaging (paper bag) and hanging tags are made of wood fibres and are also biodegradable.

In addition to cotton, the use of a special polyester, which decomposes within a very short time due to the co-polymer structure, stands out here. The Cradle to Cradle™ clothing uses only substances that have been proven not to affect human health.

Furthermore, the Cradle to Cradle™ Gold certificate ensures that no process chemicals enter waste water. Renewable energy is used to produce the clothing. At the same time, at least 50 percent of direct on-site emissions are compensated for. Production in Europe and the associated short transport routes ensure that there are no unnecessary environmental impacts.

With sustainability at A+A 2021
Because the topic of sustainability is part of our DNA. Protecting people is at the core of what we do. This drives all uvex brand values. The objective is to provide people with the right protection through our products. Whether for work, sport or for leisure. uvex defines “protection” not only in terms of preventing physical injury, but also in a wider social, ecological and economic context. Our pledge to protect society and the environment using the group-wide protecting planet concept is therefore derived from our "protecting people" mission. This is why uvex holistically checks, evaluates and optimises all steps in the value creation chain, to ensure the best and most sustainable uvex product possible. This is uvex's aspiration for itself.
